About the Orchestra
The deep and rich sounds coming from the orchestra kept me riveted."

-Yvonne Marcotte, Epoch Times

The Chelsea Symphony, founded in 2005 by young conductors Yaniv Segal and Miguel Campos Neto, is an orchestra serving the New York metropolitan community through its Chelsea location, offering innovative interpretations with cutting-edge repertoire that challenges and expands the traditional structure and behavior of the classical ensemble. The ensemble seamlessly blends the qualities of youthful energy, exuberance, solid professionalism and expert musicianship. The orchestra performed eighteen concerts in its inaugural season in 2006-2007. The next season, the orchestra performed more than twenty concerts to critical acclaim and was chosen by WNYC to be featured in their "Salute the Arts" Initiative. Since its inception, the Chelsea Symphony's popularity has grown rapidly and has reached the ears of many renowned artists. The Chelsea Symphony has collaborated with many noteworthy artists, including: Clay Aiken, Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg, Tony Award winner Lillias White, Broadway composer and personality Seth Rudetsky. A favorite of audiences, the annual Chelsea Symphony holiday concerts have featured guest celebrities Richard Kind, The Chelsea Symphony during rehearsalDavid Hyde Pierce, Ana Gasteyer, Charles Busch, and Andrea Martin narrating The Night Before Christmas by Aaron Dai. The orchestra has given special concerts at the United Nations, Central Park, and New York's Barge Music series. In the 2009-2010 season, legendary Wicked composer and Academy Award recipient Stephen Schwartz asked the Chelsea Symphony to present open rehearsals of his new opera Séance on a Wet Afternoon in advance of its world premiere by Opera Santa Barbara. Also, in 2009, the orchestra made its Fashion Week debut, accompanying designer Malan Breton in his New York Fashion Week runway show.

The Chelsea Symphony, hailed as "a daring orchestral experiment" by Chelsea Now, continues to defy categorization. As well as offering music of the highest caliber, the Chelsea Symphony is committed to the education of the artists and the community. Its unique training program offers growth and advancement for young instrumentalists, conductors, and composers.

Mission Statement The Chelsea Symphony is a non-profit, self-governing group of gifted musicians dedicated to producing performances of the highest quality and showcasing fellow orchestra members as conductors, soloists and composers. TCS aims to be a cultural focus for the Chelsea neighborhood and to present concerts of inspiring music both old and new. TCS further aims to promote the musical education of its stakeholders, including conductors, musicians, composers and the community.
