The Chelsea Symphony announces a search for a conductor and
instrumentalist to join the orchestra’s roster in the 2012-13 season.
Responsibilities include conducting on two concert series (one half
program comprised of a new composition and concerti, and another half
program of the conductor’s choice) and performing as an orchestral
instrumentalist on a minimum of four concert series each year. The
successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional musicianship as a
conductor and instrumentalist; a commitment to TCS’s collaborative
ethos; and the potential to develop new audiences and partnerships.
Residency in the greater New York City area is preferred. This is an
unpaid position, although TCS does occasionally perform paid
engagements in addition to our regular concert series.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest, a current
résumé, and web links for conducting videos (rehearsal footage
preferred) to tcs.conductor.search@gmail.com. Application deadline:
September 14, 2012. Finalists for the position will be invited to
conduct a piece and play in the orchestra on the October 26-27, 2012
concert series.
