Welcome to the 2011-2012 Concert Season!

We are pleased to announce The Chelsea Symphony's sixth season, Rediscovering America. Our concerts this year will celebrate the incredible richness of the American symphonic tradition, encompassing symphonies, concerti, and works for the stage. We will feature familiar favorites by Copland and Barber alongside hidden gems from the 19th through 21st centuries.

The season kicks off with "A Tribute to New York," a commemoration of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, presented in collaboration with visual artist Ejay Weiss, the St. Peter's Choir, and composers Aaron Dai and Shefi Yishai. Our December holiday concert will welcome Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live) for our annual performance of Dai's The Night Before Christmas. As always, performances will feature TCS musicians as conductors, soloists, and composers. There will be ample opportunities throughout the season to meet and support the orchestra at our post-concert receptions and annual silent auction.

On a different note, we would like to thank Miguel Campos Neto for his enthusiasm and leadership over the past five seasons. Miguel is stepping down as TCS Artistic Director in order to assume the position of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orquestra Sinfônica do Theatro da Paz in Belém, Brazil. We wish Miguel the best in his new role, and he has promised to come back and visit us often.

We appreciate your support and hope you join us often for what promises to be a great season!

Sincerely,

Matthew Aubin and Mark Seto
Co-Artistic Directors
