Rebecca Chaqor is originally from Brooklyn, New York. She has played at notable NYC venues such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Symphony Space, the Metropolitan Museum, and The Brooklyn Academy of Music. She has also performed at Place des Artes and the Musée de Beaux Artes in Montreal, Quebec. A cross-genre performer, Rebecca appeared with singer Dan Zanes at The Brooklyn Academy of Music and has experimented with Jazz, Improvisation, Klezmer and Folk music at venues such as Roulette, Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos NYC, and The Jalopy Theater. Her string quartet was featured on an episode of Selling New York on HGTV. As a chamber and orchestral musician, she has been on radio stations such as WQXR, NPR and WNYC. She is currently a subject in artist Jacolby Satterwhite’s performance art installation “An Eclectic Dance to the Music of Time” at David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center. Rebecca studied viola at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College division, as well as McGill University where she received her bachelor’s degrees with majors in Music Performance, Musicology and Anthropology. After taking a 5-year hiatus while working in Marketing, Rebecca now has returned to the music industry as a performer and dedicated teacher. She is on faculty at the Brooklyn Conservatory’s Suzuki program and has a private studio out of her home in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
