Harp

Liann Cline is an NYC-based harpist and private harp instructor. She has been praised for her sensitivity to the warm, deep timbres of the harp, and expressiveness as a player, which display her great thoughtfulness and nuance in approaching both the craft and her audience. Liann is a versatile artist, capable of navigating big bands, classical orchestras, and contemporary new music ensembles with equal vigor and enthusiasm.

She has performed with myriad ensembles including the Chelsea Symphony, the Grammy-winning 8-Bit Big Band, Rufus Wainwright, Queer Urban Orchestra, Broadway Sinfonietta, Wavefield Ensemble, Shahkar Bineshpajooh, Gateway Classical Music Society, Camerata Notturna, Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, Blue Hill Troupe, Litha Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra at Shelter Rock. 

Outside of the concert hall, she provides solo harp services for weddings, funerals, and other special events. She previously performed afternoon teas at the St. Regis New York, as well as held the position of resident harpist at the Grand Hotel on Michigan's Mackinac Island, from 2017 through 2021.

Liann can be heard on the Original Concept Album Recording of Kalevala The Musical, as well as Clayton G Williams’ album PolyMuse, and the TikTok musical For You, Paige. She can also be heard on the 8-Bit Big Band’s albums “Choose Your Character” (2019), “Backwards Compatible” (2021) and their newly-released “Game Changer” (2023)

Liann received her Master of Music degree in Music Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory in 2015, where she studied with Bridgett Stuckey. Previously, in 2012, Liann graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, where she studied with Elizabeth Richter and was a recipient of a Young Artist Scholarship. She attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy, where she studied with Joan Raeburn Holland.

Since moving to NYC in 2015, Liann has maintained an active presence in the harp community in the Greater NY/NJ region. She currently serves as Secretary of the New York Metro Harp Chapter of the American Harp Society.
