Music inspired by water runs through this program, from the crashing waves at Fingal’s Cave (Felix Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides) and the rugged northern California coastline (Gabriella Smith’s evocative Tumblebird Contrails) to Benjamin Britten’s atmospheric Four Sea Interludes. Friday’s concert showcases Max Bruch’s expressive Violin Concerto. Derek Weagle’s Serenade, written for TCS horn soloist John-Morgan Bush, draws inspiration from Britten’s iconic work for vocalist, horn, and strings.

NYC-based violinist Aviv Zalcenstein has performed in all major concert halls in New York with a number of different ensembles. Aviv performs regularly with the Chelsea Symphony and the String Orchestra of Brooklyn. When not fighting to lower drug prices in his day job, he enjoys chamber music, board games, and cats.
John-Morgan Bush is a concert horn artist, soloist, and chamber musician based in New York. A recipient of the John Clarke Award for Excellence in Brass Performance, he received second prize in the 2008 International Horn Society Solo Competition. His performance work centers on solo and chamber repertoire, alongside appearances with orchestras and ensembles across the United States.

Chilean conductor and violinist Nicolás Gómez Amín has performed in renowned venues across Chile, the United States, and Greece. From 2022 to 2024, he served as the Music Director of the Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra.
